Welcome to the Animals Hub, the central place to explore all the animals in Mini Zoo Life, with easy paths to learn more about the cats, geckos, salamanders, and other small companions that share my home.

Me with my two cats all snuggled up on the coach. They were young at this time.
I am wearing a red shirt that says Peace, Love, Red4Ed. I have two leopard geckos on me. My boy is on my left shoulder, and his name is Rango. My girl is on my left arm, and her name is Ivy.

How I got Started

My journey into animal care really began during COVID when I adopted my two cats from Here Kitty Kitty Rescue. Spending so much time at home allowed me to build a strong bond with them and sparked my passion for caring for animals.

A few years later, a colleague at school had a bearded dragon named Rango. During Thanksgiving break, I volunteered to care for him so he would not have to stay alone in a cold school building. While caring for Rango, I quickly fell in love with reptiles and realized how much my students enjoyed learning about animals and their habitats. After Christmas break, my colleague experienced some life changes and generously offered to let me keep Rango permanently.

As I learned more about reptile care, I began researching leopard geckos, including their habitat requirements and diet. Since Rango was not a reptile that I could regularly handle, my boyfriend and I decided to adopt a leopard gecko named Ivy from a reptile expo that we enjoyed attending.

A few years later, a family member told me about a salamander that needed a new home. I agreed to take him in, and Sammy became the next member of my growing animal family. Around the same time, another family member learned about a second salamander that also needed a home. After some convincing, I welcomed Mojo into my collection as well.

What started with two cats has grown into a small home zoo filled with animals that I love caring for and sharing with others. Through Mini Zoo Life, I hope to educate others about responsible pet ownership and the unique needs of the animals that make up my little zoo.
